Autumn is finally settling in - how to warm up your home?
When the cold weather arrives, we love to have corners or rooms in the house where it's nice to be, where we can disconnect, escape and want to stay as long as possible. Don't you?
Say goodbye to cold homes, get an autumnal warmth
If you think your home is too cold and doesn't offer all the autumnal warmth you would like, we are going to give you some tips to make your home warmer.
To give your home more warmth you can introduce some elements, materials, colours or make some simple changes in the decoration. Are you up for it?
The importance of using the right colours
To get it right and to create comfort, choose neutral colours or those that are close to what nature has to offer in autumn. It is good that they are timeless and can be used all year round.
Apart from white, cream, beige, go for different types of browns, oranges or greens (moss and olive go well together).
If you prefer pastels, go for powder pink, lilac or salmon.
The sofa is a key element in the decoration of the living room, so it is best if it is light so that you can combine textiles and decoration in other colours with it.
Its upholstery is very important when it comes to generating a feeling of warmth, so it is better if it is a soft fabric. Avoid synthetic leather or leather if your goal is the proposed one, choose better upholstery such as cotton, linen or soft to the touch micro chamois..
What about materials?
There are materials for home furniture that are warmer than others, either because of the sensation they produce when touched, or because of their characteristics or nature.
For example, wood will always bring more warmth than metal or glass, so keep this in mind to bring warmth this autumn-winter!
Solid wood or even lacquered furniture is ideal for any room and creates an instant cosy effect.
You can use wood for your main furniture: dining table, coffee table, sideboards or shelves..
Natural or vegetable fibres also promote tranquillity, embrace us, make us feel comfortable..
Wicker, jute, bamboo, raffia? They have been all the rage for a few years now! You can easily introduce these raw materials into your decoration, they go with any colour and look great with wood.
Light is vital, preferably natural
The choice of lighting also influences the sensations of calm, placidity and warmth of a room.
Always opt for natural light (do not obstruct its circulation by placing large pieces of furniture or plants near the windows) and when it disappears, place mood lighting in different points of each room, preferably in warm tones.
White lights are cooler and are more recommendable when maximum visibility is needed, such as in the bathroom or kitchen, but not for the living room or bedrooms. Create different atmospheres and areas by making the right use of light in the home.
What decorative details can be introduced in autumn?
In an autumn or winter house there are elements that turn every corner into a more comfortable space, where we love to take shelter from the cold outside.
For example, an armchair with a soft blanket next to a side table with a spotlight, candles and a vase with dried flowers can be an ideal place to while away the hours, especially if it is next to a window.
In a bedroom, layering the bed by making good use of bedspreads and bedspreads as extra decorative details also helps to create warmth - you'll want to lie down and read when you get home!
The right use of autumnal decorations such as pumpkins, pinecones or dried leaves also helps to generate warmth - try it!
