Christmas tablecloths for a table full of colour

Christmas is about gathering around the table. We cook for family, for friends and for ourselves too, and the tablecloth is the first thing to go on and the thing that shows up in every photo. That is why we make it the star.

For us, Christmas is joy, and the table can be joyful too. We have a tablecloth for every style: the festive one with fir trees, colourful ones for a party table, plain ones for those who prefer calm, and timeless striped ones. All designed in Cocentaina and made in Spain.

Colourful tablecloths for Christmas

Who said the Christmas table had to be red and green? If Christmas at your house means noise, laughter and long after-dinner chats, a colourful tablecloth is up to the task.

Multicoloured stripes

Color pop and Color lines mix stripes in many colours and turn the table into a party before the first course is served. With white tableware they shine even more.

Polka dots and pop prints

Confetti has colourful polka dots on a white background, in cotton twill: confetti for the New Year's Eve table. Arcade pop and Boogie are the boldest, for those who want the table to be the talking point.

No ironing

Color pop, Color lines, Arcade pop and Boogie, like Sapin, have a crease-resistant fabric. On the days with the most meals of the year, that is one less job.

Plain tablecloths for Christmas

A plain tablecloth is the basic of an elegant Christmas table: the tableware and the decoration take centre stage, and it holds them together. Solace has a textured fabric with an overlocked finish, in three warm tones: linen, for a bright table with green and gold; mustard, for a candlelit Christmas; and terracotta, which with wood and dried branches makes the cosiest table. They are used all year round.

Striped tablecloths for Christmas

A fine stripe is a classic of table linen. Horizon red is a red Christmas tablecloth without a single festive motif, and Horizon beige is the neutral base that takes any decoration on top. 1 cm stripes in cotton and polyester, in 140×140, 140×250 and 140×350 cm.

What size Christmas tablecloth do you need

Measure the table and add 25 to 30 cm of drop on each side. Our tablecloths are 140 to 150 cm wide, which covers tables up to 90 cm, and come in these lengths.

If you are torn between two sizes, choose the larger one: at Christmas it is easy for someone extra to join. Each product page shows its exact measurements.

How to set the Christmas table

A beautiful Christmas table does not need many things, it needs an order: the tablecloth first, and then everything else at its service.

01

The tablecloth first

Centred, with the same drop on all four sides. It is the base of the table and sets the colours for everything else.

02

A natural centrepiece

A garland of pine or eucalyptus branches running down the table, with low candles that do not block the conversation.

03

Simple tableware

With a printed tablecloth, white tableware lets the pattern breathe. If it has colour, make it one from the tablecloth.

04

A touch of sparkle

Gold in the cutlery, candle holders or baubles in the centrepiece. Repeating it two or three times is enough.

Three palettes for the Christmas table

The trick to keeping a colourful table from looking cluttered is to limit it to two or three tones and repeat them. Here are three ways to do it.

Classic

Green, white and gold

Green works as the neutral of Christmas. With the Sapin tablecloth or a plain linen one, white tableware and gold details.

Pop

Pink, orange and sky blue

A multicoloured tablecloth and everything else white. The napkins in one of the stripe colours.

Warm

Terracotta, mustard and wood

A Solace in terracotta or mustard with bare wood, candles and dried branches. The cosiest table.

Gift ideas

Christmas gifts for the home

A tablecloth is a gift for whoever hosts the meals at this time of year, or for someone moving into a new home: it is used on the most important table of the year and comes out again every December.

And for after the meal, a cotton throw for the sofa. It is the perfect companion for a warm home in winter, and a gift appreciated every cold afternoon.

Design notes

From our creative studio in Cocentaina, Alicante

Christmas is colour too

A Christmas table does not have to look like all the others.

We design tablecloths with how the table is lived in mind: rushing in the kitchen, long after-dinner chats and someone who always spills something. That is why there is a bit of everything, from the watercolour fir trees of Sapin to the multicoloured stripes of Color pop. Digital printing lets us bring every gradient and every colour to the fabric exactly as they were drawn.

Christmas tablecloth FAQs

What size Christmas tablecloth do I need?

Measure the table and add 25 to 30 cm of drop on each side. Our tablecloths are 140 to 150 cm wide, which covers tables up to 90 cm, and 140 to 350 cm long: the shortest for square or round tables, the 225 to 250 cm for rectangular tables of 170 to 220 cm and the 350 cm, the large tablecloth, for tables of 220 to 300 cm or two tables together.

How many guests fit with each size?

As a guide: a square tablecloth of 140 to 150 cm, about 4 people; one 225 to 250 cm long, 6 to 8; and one 350 cm long, 10 to 12, the size for big family meals on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Which Christmas tablecloth for a round table?

We don't have round tablecloths, but a square one of 140 to 150 cm covers a round table of about 90 cm in diameter, with a drop of 25 to 30 cm all round. For larger round tables, our sizes fall short.

Do you have Christmas tablecloths?

Yes, the Sapin tablecloth, with fir trees painted in watercolour. And to dress the Christmas table your way, we also have multicoloured striped, polka dot, fine-striped and textured plain tablecloths, the basic that lets the tableware and decoration take centre stage.

Which tablecloth for Christmas if I don't want festive motifs?

A colourful one or a plain one. Multicoloured striped and polka dot tablecloths make a cheerful, festive table; plains in terracotta, mustard or linen make a warm table finished with candles and branches. And all of them keep being used the rest of the year.

Which tablecloth for an elegant Christmas table?

A plain one or a fine-striped one. Solace in linen with white tableware and gold details, or Horizon red with clear glassware and white candles. The fewer colours, the more understated the table.

Are there tablecloths that need no ironing?

Yes. Sapin, Color pop, Color lines, Arcade pop and Boogie have a crease-resistant fabric: they come out of the washing machine ready for the table.

Are they stain-proof tablecloths?

They are not coated tablecloths, so they do not repel liquids like oilcloth. The polyester ones are stain-resistant and easy to wash; the most practical thing is to wash them soon after the meal.

How to decorate the Christmas table with a printed tablecloth?

Let the tablecloth lead and limit the rest to two or three colours taken from the print itself. White tableware, candles and a centrepiece of natural branches work with any of them.

Is a tablecloth a good Christmas gift?

Yes, especially for whoever hosts the meals at this time of year or for someone moving into a new home. To complete it, a throw for the sofa is the companion for after the meal.

Where are Happyfriday tablecloths made?

In Spain. They are designed in our studio in Cocentaina (Alicante) and printed and made in workshops in Spain. They are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Class I certified.
