This autumn's best trends for your home

Just as with our wardrobes, trends are finding their way into our homes more and more. If you like interior design and love adding new touches to your home, here's a style guide to the home and décor trends for autumn-winter 2022.

What we mainly look for when decorating our home is comfort, warmth and calm, especially in the colder seasons. That's why the leading trend this season is all about embracing neutral colours, which soothe and comfort us most, with cheerful touches that help ease the melancholy of summer's end: mustard, terracotta, brown, lavender, Klein blue…

When it comes to materials, and with the same aim of designing cosy, unhurried spaces that make us feel good, natural materials and all things handcrafted have taken hold. For example, the Raíces collection embraces this concept.

Pieces made from fibres (jute, wicker, bamboo, macramé…) are still very present in homes this autumn, wrapped up in soft long-pile textiles, wool, velvet and cotton.

In the colder, rainier months, cushion covers and long-pile blankets replace the linen textiles of spring and summer.

The weather leads us to spend more time at home and enjoy our living spaces more. That's why all the activities and hobbies you can do at home are now taking centre stage: knitting, crafts, making your own decorations, cooking, designing photo albums, painting or simply reading in our favourite corner.

Beyond what's in for colours and fabrics, there are some fashionable decorating ideas this autumn that you'll want to put into practice if you want your home to be bang up to date.

One of them is curved mirrors. Although round and oval mirrors with thin frames are still widely used, irregularly shaped mirrors with matt black frames are now arriving.

These mirrors bring movement and softness to your décor and are one of the big home and décor trends for autumn-winter 2022.

For months now, furniture with curved lines has been leading modern interior design. Until recently, curves were associated with classic styles, but today they can also be seen in contemporary spaces.

One example is the classic mushroom lamp inspired by 1970s designs, now being reimagined in many colours and materials.

The passion for curves has even spread to home architecture, making arches to separate rooms fashionable, as well as for creating wall niches or for painting or wallpapering walls.

Another decorating idea that's taking over is an abundance of candles. And when we say candles, we mean candles accompanied by lanterns, oil lamps or candelabras.

Create an arrangement in every corner or on some of the furniture in your living room or bedroom. And don't forget the bathroom! Having one or more scented candles lit in the bathroom is very comforting.
