New decor resolutions for your home. Get the new year off to a great start!

We're about to start a new year, which is always exciting. At this time of year many people like to set themselves new challenges and goals. Some do it at the end of the summer, but many do it over Christmas.

If you're always looking for new resolutions, we suggest getting 2024 off to a great start with a few inspiring ideas related to the home, that private sanctuary that most of us like to look after so that it brings peace and wellbeing.

Be brave with new colours and prints

Since stepping out of our comfort zone usually pays off, this year we suggest trying to bring new colours or different prints into your home decor, especially your textiles. What do you think?

If you usually go for neutral or plain colours in your cushions and bedding, why not try other shades or a few prints?

To guide you, if you like to follow trends, botanical prints that evoke nature are still leading the way in home decor, but checks have also become very popular these days.

Choose a new comforter or duvet cover

Having a good comforter or duvet cover in winter is key to feeling good and resting properly. Thickness, material and size are all vitally important.

First of all, if you think your bed cover is very old or not suited to the temperature of your home in winter, get a new one.

Our advice is that before you look at models, think about the ambient temperature of your home. Depending on the type of heating or the insulation your doors and windows provide, you'll need a thicker or thinner comforter or duvet.

For example, a very thick comforter in a house kept warm by central heating may make you too hot at night and stop you sleeping well.

As for the material of your comforter or duvet, we recommend looking at the composition and the weight according to how much warmth you need.

The most common fillings are fibre and down, the latter being of natural origin, often with a 100% cotton outer shell.

As for the right size, apart from the type of bed you have, think about the depth of your mattress so that the comforter or duvet cover covers the bed properly and doesn't fall short at the sides.

Add more cushions and throws to your decor

Make your home cosier in 2024 with more cushions and throws, both on the beds and on the living room sofa.

Cushions and their covers will emphasise the atmosphere and decorating style you've chosen for your home, but they will also make beds and sofas softer, more comfortable and plumper. They help to create layers and volume, which are very appealing.

Top your comforter or duvet with a lovely throw or bed cover that goes well with the bedding. On the arms of the sofa you can place a blanket or two, depending on how many people live in the house.

Choose them in natural materials that create contrasts of colour and texture with the sofa fabric and the cushion covers.
