Farol con vela junto a cojines de estampado marino

You love lighthouses, deserted beaches and looking for the most beautiful shells. It fills you with joy to place pebbles in your flower pots and take a little bit of sand from your favourite beach home with you - or maybe from a wonderful beach paradise in the Caribbean or the Pacific!

Maybe you are passionate about those shops with seaside decoration, traditional rigging and the best mackintoshes... If you like the coastal style, haven't you thought about giving that touch to your room?

You can do it in a second home or at home, to enjoy it all year round and dream of the waves and smell the sea breeze from your room.

The ideal colours for a coastal style bedroom

When decorating a room, be it a bedroom, living room, hallway or bathroom, in this popular style, the basic colours will be white and a palette of blues that can range from the very fashionable aquamarine green to a variety of indigos, indigos or blues with a hint of grey.

It can also be complemented with some light brown. To get it right, it is advisable to opt for three or four colours: white, a shade of blue and brown, or white and two shades of blue that evoke the marine world.

If you move within this palette, you are sure to get it right. Ideally, white should be the main colour, the one that abounds, and it should be complemented with two or three other shades of the aforementioned tones.

Essential materials for a nautical interior

I'm sure you already have it in mind: wood. It is a material that cannot be missing in a coastal style room. Of course, if it is raw, unrefined or aged, all the better, it will look more authentic, having suffered the ravages of the wind and the humidity of the coast.

Other materials that have a good place in rooms decorated with a coastal soul are rope, braided plant fibres, ceramics, mother-of-pearl or glass.

To get it right, there is one rule you can follow: decorate with marine gear or figures that have to do with the sea, from animals and marine flora to lighthouses, boats, oars, oars, knots, etc.

It is very easy to find these motifs in decoration, especially at this time of the year.

There is also a lot of beautiful tableware with fish or shells. For textiles, linen and cotton are best. However, a few outdoor cushions in raffia or with braided details will add the finishing touch.

Some proposals for a bed by the sea

To make it look like your room is on the beachfront or in a cottage on the edge of the Atlantic you should use the colours we have mentioned. The key is the choice of blue or blues. As for the textiles, you can opt for plain, basic bed linen in coastal tones or with a sailor's or marine print. If you prefer bed linen without prints, we recommend our Basic designs in 100% cotton in indigo blue or mint.

If you don't like these tones, you have the option of choosing a beige set and then introducing the blues in other elements of the decoration, be they textiles or figures.

In case you love prints, you'll love our Coral Reef design. With beautiful illustrations of starfish, shells, coral or jellyfish, this bedding set will look great in the bedroom. It will add a cosy and cheerful touch to the room.

The base colours are mint and white and then there are some cushions in a lovely powder pink.

In our shop we even have towels in this design, for a cosy, coastal-inspired bathroom.
