The latest trends in textile design for this spring summer make it clear that the two most popular prints are plaid and stripes. But what kind, in what colours, combined in what way? We are going to answer all this in this article.

This season always brings with it an explosion of colour, patterns and fun. The decoration of our home in general, and especially home textiles, are filled with prints and colours (vitamin or pastel).

Squares and stripes in bright colours

When it comes to the textiles we use to dress our bedroom, this spring-summer 2024 season makes it very clear that the most popular are plaids and stripes.

Vichy plaids: mini and maxi

Vichy squares in pastel or light colours, but not only small, but also in maxi format, like the ones in our latest NADEAR collection. Have you seen it yet?

The colours in which we most often see vichy patterns on bed linen are, in particular, pastel or powdery shades. The most popular colours at the moment are lilac, lemon yellow, apple green and orange or peach.

They are all cheerful colours that identify with the flowers and fruits of the season.

As well as being present in our latest bed linen collection, checks are also featured in many new designs from other home textile brands.

It is true that the vichy check prints were already in the duvet covers that were worn this winter, but in the cold months we found them mainly in darker shades, typical of the colder months: browns, greys, blues, dark greens, terracotta, etc.

Summer stripes in vintage style

As for stripes, another trendy motif in bed linen this spring-summer 2024, the most fashionable ones are retro, thick and in two-colour format: always next to white.

This is the striped pattern typical of the beach style of the early 20th century. The stripes of those umbrellas or huts where people used to change into their swimming costumes - you've probably seen photos of them!

This type of print can also be seen in this year's outdoor decoration: on sofa cushions and garden armchairs, hammocks and flirty parasols.

This retro beach vibe is transferred to home textiles, especially to the most summery beds. But in what colours exactly?

There are two trends:

  • Navy colours: red, blue and also beige.
  • Pastel colours: lilac, yellow, orange, green, pink...

In the same way as with checks, the fashion for textiles with stripes is not so current, but it is true that in the past it was more the grid style in neutral tones or the more subtle pinstripes, but now what is fashionable is the retro beach touch in cheerful colours, both inside and outside the home.

How to combine fashionable prints in the bedroom?

Now that we know which prints are in fashion this season, let's take a look at how to combine them correctly.

We are going to focus on bed linen, although many of the rules can also be applied to the decoration of sofas and armchairs.

Some keys to the right combination

Avoid mistakes when combining textiles by applying a simple rule: choose a maximum of three colours for your bed.

You can use only two or three, with the third being a neutral colour. The third could also be a shade derived from one of the key colours.

For example, you could use light grey, lilac and a darker violet in your décor, with the latter two being two purples, very close to each other.

Another ideal method of combining bedroom textiles is to choose one plain and one patterned textile.
You could choose a patterned fitted sheet and place a plain bedspread on top or the other way around, a plain fitted sheet with a patterned top or duvet cover.

Combining prints is a more delicate task, but you can also do it with taste and get the result right.

A very fashionable option is to combine checks or stripes with a floral or plant print within the same colour palette or to combine checks and stripes that have some common denominator, whether it is the colour palette, the fabric used or the style of the designs.

Here are some other examples of how to combine printed bed linen according to these trends. Don't be afraid to take risks and, above all, have fun decorating!
