Sheets with a Leading Role: Designs and Qualities for a Better Night's Sleep
Did you know that we spend a third of our lives in bed? Choosing the right sheets can make a big difference to your rest. That’s why it’s important to choose them carefully. Moreover, if you enjoy decorating, there are sheets with a leading role, with amazing designs that will captivate you from the very first moment.
All our sheets are 100% cotton, cool, natural, available in various sizes, colours, and patterns.
But before you choose, let’s learn more about the sheets that can dress our beds.
Types of Sheets
Regarding the most common materials used for bed sheets, the most popular are cotton, polyester, and linen, though you can also find designs in silk or microfibre.
- Cotton Sheets: These are the most popular due to their quality, softness, coolness, and skin-friendliness.
- Linen Sheets: Another 100% natural fibre ideal for when it's hot; it is light and cool.
- Polyester or Mixed Sheets: There are many polyester sheets, synthetic fabric, or those that blend a percentage (higher or lower) of cotton with polyester. These are usually cheaper and quite durable.
- Silk Sheets: A true luxury for our bodies, they are elegant, soft, and cool, with a characteristic shine.
Differences in Cotton Sheets
As with everything, there are many types of quality in cotton sheets, depending on the type of thread, how it is woven, and its blend with other fibres.
The different types of cotton you might find on the market are:
- Egyptian Cotton: The highest quality, famous for its long, extra-fine fibre. Its strengths are softness, breathability, and durability.
- Pima Cotton: Similar to the above but with slightly shorter fibre. The advantages are the same.
- Percale Cotton: This is a smooth, lustrous cotton fabric, cool, breathable, and durable. It is somewhat more affordable than the others.
- Sateen Cotton: A cotton fabric with a satin finish that gives it a distinctive sheen. It is also good, soft, cool, and sophisticated.
In principle, the best cotton for sheets is Egyptian due to its extreme softness and durability. If you are looking for high-quality sheets at a more affordable price, you might opt for 100% cotton sheets, ideal for all seasons and available with varying thread counts.
Important Features of Sheets
In addition to the type of cotton used, there are other key features to consider when choosing sheets:
- Thread Count: The number of threads per square inch always indicates the density of the fabric. The higher the thread count, the softer and more durable the fabric. For example, on our website, most have 150 threads or more.
- Size and Fit: It’s important to choose the right size of sheets to fit your bed. Consider the size of the mattress as well as its thickness to ensure a perfect fit.
Washing and Caring for Sheets
To extend the life of your sheets, it is necessary to wash them with programs suitable for their composition (if in doubt, consult the label). It is recommended to wash or change them once a week.
To keep them in good condition, wash them preferably in cold water (30 degrees) and with a mild detergent. Fabric softener is not necessary.
The best way to dry sheets is to air dry them, but if you can’t hang them outside, do so in a cool, sunny place in the house. This will help prevent unpleasant smells.
Ironing sheets is not essential, but some types, like linen, crease a lot. Do it if you think it’s necessary or if they look better when making your bed.
It’s up to you! What we do recommend is to use sheets made from natural materials, not synthetics, such as cotton, for a better rest and a bed that is more comfortable, soft, cool, and gentle on all skin types.
