Living in flats or small flats is very common nowadays, especially in big cities, where housing prices are sometimes very high; also among young people, who share a flat and cannot yet afford a bigger house.

That's why choosing the right elements for decorating small flats is essential to make the spaces look less cramped - there are lots of tricks!

Colours are the ones that most help to generate sensations and provoke optical games. This is the case with white. Since it is the colour that reflects light the most, it is also the one that promotes the sensation of spaciousness and visual lightness.

A room where white predominates will always be brighter and appear larger, even more so if it receives natural light for part of the day.

To make the most of the square metres you can therefore choose bed linen for small rooms.

Whites and neutrals

Remember: the best trick to make a space look bigger is to dominate it with white. Of course, there are many different types of white, which gives you plenty of scope when it comes to choosing bed linen.

There are those who love the plain, simple and clean all-white beds, because they invite you to rest and also give a feeling of maximum hygiene.

If this is your case, in our shop we have the Basic range in white, made from 200 thread count cotton, soft, fresh and natural, you'll love it!

However, when it comes to enlarging spaces, other neutral and light tones such as beige, grey, cream, nude... are also useful.

No patterns or colours?

Do you have to leave out bed linen with some colour and prints if your bedroom is small? Of course not!

First of all, it is most important that you choose a suitable bed size for the room. It may be better to place a 135 cm rather than a 150 cm bed for two people or go for a 120 cm rather than a 135 cm bed if it is a single bed.

Your room will look bigger if it has a smaller bed.

That said, if the bedroom is not very large, it is safest to use white bedding, but that doesn't mean you can't introduce splashes of other colours or patterns.

Our recommendation is that if the room is mini, choose duvet covers, bedspreads or sheets with at least 70% of the surface in neutral tones, but can of course have coloured motifs!

Here we show you an example of children's bedding whose base colour is neutral, the dominant colour, but then features charming colourful motifs in the form of prints.

This type of bedding will not overload the room.

As for the other colours that appear, if they are light, powdery or pastel, so much the better, but as they are in small touches, it won't make much difference if they are more vivid.

Complements: cushions and plaids

Can bed linen for small rooms afford to use add-ons? Of course they can! But with some considerations.

Bed linen accessories are basically pillowcases, cushions and plaids or bedspreads. In the decoration of tight bedrooms you can choose neutral, colourful or patterned bed linen, always depending on how you choose sheets, bedspreads, duvets or duvets.

One option that works very well when you want to enlarge the space is to combine neutral bedding with some cushions in more striking tones, either warm or cool, whichever you like best.

Light pink, terracotta, ochre, aquamarine, sky blue, lilac or light grey could be used.

Overlay and layering

What is true is that the tendency to add several layers of textiles on our bed does not help to make a small room look bigger.

It is now popular to place several rows of cushions of different sizes, colours, patterns and textures, as well as bedspreads and blankets on top of the duvet cover or duvet.

It creates the feeling of a cosier, more inviting, enveloping and lively bed, but it visually overloads the environment and the room. If your room is small, don't overdo it with layers or cushions on your bed!
