Bedding ideas for a teenager's bedroom

When decorating a teenager's bedroom, it's key to involve them in the decisions. From the age of 12 or 13, when children enter adolescence, they know exactly what they like and what they don't.

Whether it's colours, motifs, furniture, textiles, decorative elements, etc., teenagers know how they want to decorate their living space and what they want to surround themselves with. At this age, bedrooms are sacred temples, expressions of their identity, which is still taking shape.

Inside the room, ideally there should be a work area, a rest area and a chill-out area. It all depends on the square metres available, of course, but if there's room for an armchair or a small bench, it will look great next to a sideboard or a bookcase with its own light.

Tips for choosing a teenager's bedding

When it comes to choosing how to dress the bed, teenagers want to decide. So give them a few options. In our shop there are lots of designs of duvet covers, sheets, cushions, pillowcases, bedspreads…

Even so, the boldest colours, prints and designs are the biggest hit with children and teenagers.

Depending on their personality, they'll be drawn to bright colours, fun prints or neutral palettes.

It's a good idea to have two or three sets of sheets and a couple of duvet covers so you have a spare when washing the bedding.

Comforter or duvet cover?

When choosing between comforters and duvet covers, teenagers tend to prefer the latter, because they're fluffy and enveloping, and also easy to put on when making the bed.

Once you're in bed, a duvet hugs you, wraps around you and makes you feel as if you were inside a safe, cosy cocoon. That's why they're so popular!

The flat sheet: can you do without it?

Many people choose to use the duvet with just a fitted sheet, while others prefer to have a flat sheet in between. It's a matter of taste!

However, when dressing a teenager's bedroom, there are some things to consider. As adolescence is a time of hormonal upheaval and sometimes also of strong body odours, having a flat sheet will let you use the duvet cover longer before washing it again.

When you only use the duvet cover with a fitted sheet, it's best to wash the duvet cover more often, as it's in direct contact with the skin.

Then again, we all know how much teenagers love making their bed, and there's no simpler, quicker way to make it than when it's just a fitted sheet and a duvet cover.

If you'd rather make it easy for them to make their bed every day, go for a sheet and a duvet cover. And that's it!

Some ideal designs for a teenager's bedroom

1. An explosion of colour

Among the most colourful and original, the Funny Faces set stands out, which includes the duvet cover, bedspread, sheets, pillowcases and even a matching bag. Perfect as a birthday or Christmas gift!

As it has several colours on a neutral base, you can use some of those shades to decorate the rest of the room.
